Mutair
Mutair
A major tribe living in the land lying between Riyadh and Kuwait, in the northern and eastern part of the Nejd, in Al-Hasa and Kuwait

They occasionally fought Ibn Saud till 1915 and then became the most important Ikhwan tribe.

Faisal Ad-Dawish was the chief of the Ilwa section and was recognized as the supreme leader of the tribe. Ibn Shuqayr was Ad-Dawish’s lieutenant and belonged to the same section. He commanded the Hijra of al-Jarriyya. The other section of the Mutair, the Briyya, was divided into several subsections, headed by Ali bin Shuwayrabat, Shuryan, Jasir bin Lami, Salman bin Busayyis and Naif bin Fuqum.

The Mutair were renowned for their herd of black camels which they drove before them into battle.

After 1923 they became "Ikhwan refugees" in Iraq. The Mutair participated in the Ikhwan revolt and lost political power after the Ikhwan’s subjugation in 1929-1930.
