Crown Prince Saud had been away from Taif when Ibn Saud died. On his return, Prince Faisal at once greeted him as King.
Prince Faisal's prompt action in affirming his loyalty to Saud as the new King dispelled any doubts there may have been about the succession.
After the announcement of Ibn Saud's death, Prince Faisal flew with his father's body to Riyadh, where Ibn Saud was buried, according to the tradition of his people, in an unmarked grave.
