The British Broadcasting Corporation's first Arabic language broadcast was inaugurated by HH, the Amir Saif al-Islam, son of Imam Yahya. Congratulatory messages were broadcast by Saudi Arabian and Iraqi ministers, the Egyptian Charge d'Affaires and Sir Bernard Reilly, the Governor of Aden.
Ibn Saud listened to the BBC's first Arabic broadcast in the company of Sir Reader Bullard, the British Minister Plenipotentiary. The occasion was soured by a news item announcing that the British authorities in Palestine had hanged an Arab found to have arms in his possession.
