With Jewish immigration into Palestine increasing despite Palestinian protests, the Arab Higher Committee urged all Palestinians to refuse to pay taxes to the British Mandate Government and organized a national strike. The strike lasted some seven months and caused great hardship for the most vulnerable members of the Palestinian community. Throughout the strike, Ibn Saud maintained contact with the British and consulted closely with his brother Arab leaders in Iraq, Jordan and Yemen. He ensured that his personal subventions to the Palestinians reached those in most need.
