Treaty of Taif signed between Saudi Arabia and Yemen
Treaty of Taif signed between Saudi Arabia and Yemen

Ibn Saud signed a peace treaty between his Kingdom and the Yemen, the treaty of Taif.

The Yemen was to remain an independent country within its existing frontiers. Imam Yahya must abandon all claim to the uplands of Asir, Najran and Jizan, and must pay Ibn Saud 100,000 pounds sterling in gold as compensation for the costs of the war.

When invited to discuss the issue of the border between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Yemen, it is said that Imam Yahya wisely declined to bargain, preferring to rely on Ibn Saud's generosity.
