British syndicate forfeits first Saudi oil concession
For three years the London-based Eastern and General Syndicate had failed to pay the annual fee of £2,000 in gold to Ibn Saud for the oil concession which Major Frank Holmes had negotiated. His patience exhausted, Ibn Saud withdrew the concession.
