Charles Crane makes first attempt to meet Ibn Saud
Charles R. Crane, the wealthy American philanthropist, made his first approach to Ibn Saud, sending a cable in which he described himself as a friend of the Arabs and seeking an audience with the King of Nejd and Hijaz. Ibn Saud, who had never heard of Crane, did not grant the American's request.
