The Ikhwan force under Sultan bin Bijad bin Humaid and Khalid bin Mansour bin Luay advanced on the Holy City of Makkah. They now had direct orders from Ibn Saud that the City should be taken without bloodshed. Four Ikhwan, unarmed and in the traditional dress of pilgrims, entered the city with the promise that the safety of those who submitted to God and surrendered to Ibn Saud was assured. The Holy City of Makkah was taken without resistance. The next day, 2,000 Ikhwan, also dressed as pilgrims but now carrying their weapons, took control of the Holy City. All signs of idolatry were destroyed.
