Ibn Rashid had been a strong, courageous leader. His death led to a period of internecine strife within the Al Rashid, strife so bitter that no fewer than three Rashidi leaders were assassinated in a seven-year period.
Although the family still controlled Jabal Shammar, to the north of al-Qassim, this feuding amongst Ibn Rashid's sons meant that the Al Rashid posed no threat to Ibn Saud.
