Ibn Rashid now realized that he faced an enemy of great stature and one who threatened his own power-base. With some desperation, Ibn Rashid asked the Turks who had previously limited their support to weapon supplies, to send their troops to his aid.
The Turks sent eight battalions of well-armed and well-equipped soldiers into the desert to put down Ibn Saud's forces once and for all.
