After a siege which lasted some weeks, Buraidah, mindful of the outcome of the battle for Unaizah, surrendered to Ibn Saud. This meant that the authority of the Al Saud now extended to much of al-Qassim. The young Prince Abdul Aziz (Ibn Saud) who, against all the odds, had retaken Riyadh, was now a force to be reckoned with and a very real threat to Hail, the seat of the Al Rashid.
